Hundreds of sex tapes involving a high-ranking Equatorial Guinean civil servant with the wives of other men have done the rounds on social media, prompting the authorities to step in and stop them from spreading.
In these videos, the director of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF) Baltasar Ebang Engonga, can be seen in compromising positions with various women- including the wives of other government officials. The inexcusable behaviour took place at his office in the finance ministry.
On the 4th November, Equatorial Guinea's vice president Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue announced on social media that the government would commence with the "immediate suspension of all civil servants who have had sexual relations in the offices of the ministries, as this constitutes a flagrant violation of the code of conduct and the law on public ethics".
The affair has frantically spread across social media, and is currently 'viral'. The damage it has caused is deemed unprecedented, due to the notoriety of the officials involved. Equatorial Guinea's telecommunications ministry, regulator and telephone companies have been given 24 hours "to curb the distribution of pornographic videos that are flooding social networks in Equatorial Guinea".
More to follow as the story unfolds.
